Now Hiring a New Brewer/Distiller/Production Manager

Pay: $20 - $25/hr DOE

Location: Juneau, Alaska

We are a very small, very efficient, and very passionate team making spirits in Juneau, Alaska. This position is responsible for brewing the beer that will become our whiskey, creating efficient distillation schedules, managing our quickly growing barrel inventory, helping with canning line operation and maintenance, and handling a wide range of tasks to support and maintain a fast paced production schedule. This position is responsible for maintaining high quality standards in production, keeping a safe, organized, and sanitary workspace and will be working very closely with the lead distiller. Work is very physical and requires a general knowledge of tools and strong problem solving skills. This position is largely independent and previous brewing experience is not required - we are more than willing to train the right candidate. 


 

RESPONSIBILITY: 

Safety

  • Maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment
  • Safe use of pumps, hot liquids, and strong cleaning materials
  • Maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures for food safety and personnel safety
  • Analyzing and addressing inefficiencies and ergonomics in processes and identifying tools/practices to improve efficiencies, safety, and comfort in performing jobs 
  • Quality

  • Maintain quality standards and ensure ingredients and finished products meet specifications
  • Testing samples both quantitatively and qualitatively to ensure consistency 
  • Production

  • Ensure production schedules stay on track and alert staff to delays and advances in order to plan accordingly. 
  • Create brew/distillation/batching/bottling/canning schedules to maximize production and minimize staff downtime.
  • Ensure inventory is adequate for production schedule and plans
  • Include all staff on exciting production updates, tastings, and quality control. Host educational and quality control tastings for entire crew.  
  • Work closely with the entire team to make sure production goals are completed
  • Planning 

  • Work jointly with leadership team to plan for weekly, monthly, and annual goals
  • Use understanding of inventory and ingredient management tools to identify and mitigate production delays
  • Establish priorities, revise schedules
  • Skills/qualifications: 

  • Ability to manage workflow and utilize workforce and equipment to efficiently produce products. 
  • Ability to recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
  • Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously. 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to work as a team, be hands-on, and perform whatever tasks need to be completed to get the job done. 
  • Ability with hand and power tools is a strong plus. Ability to independently problem solve, troubleshoot, and understand technical manuals extremely valuable. 
  • Schedule:

  • Full time position with a lot of flexibility. 4 - 5 days per week
